Welcome ... to Woodpile Carvings and café: a great place for coffee, for
lunch, or to pick up one of the original hand-carved creations that has sprung from the woodpile of Elizabeth Brown!
Look in the Gallery to find Woodspirits, Old World Santas, Fishers, Angels and other collectibles to greet you, every one an original with its own character.
You'll also find great lunches, coffees, and a warm welcoming greeting at the café.
The Woodpile Café is located at 181 Main Street, in downtown Liverpool, Nova Scotia. It's not only a great place to
eat, but we also offer occasional classes, demonstrations, and an interesting selection of authentic local art and craft.
In woodcarving, Liz found early on that the spirit of the wood spoke directly to her own spirit and appreciation of
the natural world.
"I love to roll a log in my hand until I spot the perfect place to expose the knowing, weathered face of a
woodspirit. The rich colour and smooth, hard texture of the wood has me entranced as each piece reveals its own personality. I often feel I have little to do with the final result, as I am
uncovering something that perhaps existed all along."
I enjoy uncovering the spirit and humanity in the faces I find in the wood; capturing the spark in an eye, looking at a face in
the wood and seeing it looking back at me!
You can see some of the results of that labour in the Gallery. And, if you see something you'd like, or if you'd like
to see more, you are always welcome to drop in to the café or contact me.
